Game 10: Leyton Orient 6.1 Staines Town (FA Cup) 7.11.15
A rare trip to a league ground for a 1st Round Proper FA Cup tie. I wanted to watch the game from the side so purchased a ticket at the ground for the main home stand and bumped into the Crusader Raider, an Oakland Raiders (and Orient) follower who was preparing for a trip to the USA the following weekend.
Staines brought a vocal bunch of supporters who congregated behind one goal with two tinfoil FA Cups that were waved up and down on a regular basis before kick off. After the Remembrance Day minute silence the game kicked off and Orient soon took control with three goals in the opening thirteen minutes. Staines pulled one back in front of their supporters when the ball was punched out of the area to former Orient player Darren Purse who calmly lofted the ball over the retreating keeper and in. The best of the Orient goals came in the 33rd minute when an exquisite freekick from Cox curled over the wall and into the top corner.
The second half saw Orient create a lot of chances but Staines managed to keep them out until the last minutes of the game. A fifth goal came from a one on one move before former Salisbury defender Shaun Clohessy added a sixth deep in injury time.
