Game 12: Beaminster 3.1 West and Middle Chinook (Perry Street Premier) 05.12.15
A first trip to a Perry Street league match and a very enjoyable afternoon with Paul for company. The ground was a little tricky to find, situated down a narrow track next to some houses. We were pleased to see the clubhouse had a sheltered standing area as it was raining heavily when we arrived. While the strong wind kept up through the game, the rain cleared up and we watched the first half from the top of the raised path above the goal.
Beaminster were top of the league and unbeaten this season after seven games. They took the lead after eight minutes when a cross into the box was volleyed in. There should have been more goals but their finishing was wasteful and many chances weren’t taken. West and Middle Chinook had a good chance when one of their players rounded the keeper but the shot lacked power and was cleared off the line.
We moved to the touchline for the second half and almost saw a second goal when a shot hit the post from close range. West and Middle Chinook scored an equaliser on the hour with a good breakaway attack and this saw Beaminster finally step up a gear. It took three minutes for them to score a second and shortly after hitting the bar from a corner they added a third when a low shot passed through a crowd of players and in.
