Game 13: Air Corps 8.1 Intelligence Corps (Army Woolwich Cup) 7.12.15
Paul highlighted a rare opportunity to visit the Tidworth Oval for a football match so I drove up the A338 to meet him at the ground. This was a quarter final cup fixture between two Army teams, the Air Corps in purple and the Intelligence Corps in green. After taking a walk around the running track to take some photos of the stand, we settled into our seats to watch the match.
It didn’t take long for the first goal of the game, Air Corps scoring after 13 seconds with their first attack. They scored with their second attack when Intelligence Corps failed to clear the ball after three minutes and showed some good skill with their front two looking very useful on the ball.
The second half saw a feast of goals as Air Corps took command of the game and added six to their total, including a goal direct from a corner. My favourite goal saw a player on the ground trap the ball before passing to a team mate. It looked like a lost cause but after two passes this move created a goal when the impressive no 9 stroked the ball past the keeper. Intelligence Corps pulled one goal back from a penalty towards the end.
