Game 15: Lyndhurst 2.1 Sway (Hampshire Division 1)

Game 15: Lyndhurst 2.1 Sway (Hampshire Division 1) 27.02.16

A cold, windy but dry day in the New Forest for a trip to Lyndhurst and their local derby against Sway. Despite the proximity of the teams, at kick off I counted more New Forest ponies than spectators in the ground.

The first half was an even affair, Lyndhurst had a shot cleared off the line and Sway came close when a low cross beat everyone in the area and almost found the net. The second half saw three goals in eight minutes just after the restart. Sway scored first after beating the offside trap. The chance looked to have gone after a poor cross into the box but they won the ball back and a close range shot went in.

Four minutes later they went two up, a great cross from the right found a team mate on the penalty spot who fired in. Lyndhurst got one back four minutes later with a low shot after the keeper had punched the ball out of the area. In the final minutes they were unlucky not to equalise as the Sway keeper came way out of his goalmouth and didn’t gather the ball. The shot was on target but cleared off the line by the defence.
